Sync 4

I do not know how to uninstall Cybozu Sync 4.

You can uninstall Cybozu Sync 4 in one of the following two ways:

Select Cybozu Sync 4 Uninstall from Start > Programs > Cybozu Sync 4 in the Windows menus.
Choose Cybozu Sync 4 under Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

I cannot install Sync 4 because I don't know where Palm Desktop is installed.

Cybozu Sync 4 must be installed in the same directory where Palm Desktop Software is installed. In the default settings, the directory is C:\Palm.

Before installing Cybozu Sync 4, please make sure you have installed Palm Desktop Software.

Palm Desktop Software is contained in the CD that comes with each Palm-compatible handheld.

The data are deleted without saving backup files even I checked 'Backup' in the PalmOS handheld.

If you delete Scheduler 4 and ToDo List 4 files in PalmOS handheld and synchronize, the data is deleted in Cybozu Office 4 even you check Data Backup in PC. Handheld applications used with Cybozu Sync 4 cannot save backup files.

Data Backup in PC

The Data Backup in PC feature of PalmOS handheld enables you to save backup files in the Client PC. For more details, please refer to the manual attached to the PalmOS handheld.

Cybozu Sync 4 itself does not have backup file feature

Even you check Data Backup in PC and delete PalmOS handheld data and synchronize the data, the data is not saved as backup file in PalmDesktop.

Nothing happens even after pressing the HotSync button on the cradle.

Make sure the cradle's cable is connected to the client machine properly. In addition, please confirm that HotSync Manager has already started.

All the data are not updated successfully after synchronization.

Make sure that you do not choose to "Do nothing" in the settings for each Cybozu conduit.

For Cybozu Address Book 4, Cybozu Sync 4 lets you synchronize only those records under the Cybozu category in your handheld. Accordingly, if you see no data update or synchronization with Cybozu Address Book 4, please check whether the address records you want to synchronize in the handheld are registered under the Cybozu category.

Usually, Cybozu Sync 4 automatically creates the address category, Cybozu. However, if you already have more than 15 categories, it cannot create the one for Cybozu.

"If this is the case, please delete some of the categories.

Again, make sure that all the address records in your handheld have to be registered under the Cybozu category to synchronize with Cybozu Address Book 3.

I see the error message from HotSync Manager when trying to synchronize.

Please refer to the log of HotSync Manager for the details, and identify which conduit generating the error. If it is from Cybozu Applications' conduits, please refer to the followings for the meanings of the errors.

The data in the handheld have been unintentionally overwritten or deleted.

The conduit may be set to overwrite the data in the handheld with Cybozu Office 4 applications data.

Cybozu Sync 4 deletes the data in the handheld that are out of the synchronization target.

For example, the completed ToDo records in the handheld are recognized as out of the target by Cybozu Sync 4. Accordingly, they will be deleted when you synchronize between Cybozu ToDo List 4 and the handheld.

Can I synchronize the handheld with other synchronizing software while using Cybozu Sync 4?

You cannot synchronize the handheld with other applications while you are using Cybozu Sync 4.

For example, when you synchronize the Palm OS handheld schedule with Cybozu Office 4, you cannot synchronize the handheld with other scheduling software like Palm Desktop or Outlook. Data may be lost as synchronization may not work properly.

Is there any problem if I stop HotSync while it's working?

Please don't stop HotSync while it's working. Conduits of Cybozu save the updated synchronized data at the end of the session.

If you stop HotSync, updated information may not been saved. Therefore, when you synchronize the data again, the data that were synchronized before may be registered again.

The data in the handheld was deleted unintentionally.

You may check the box of [Delete the data under inbox in handheld before synchronization] in Action Setting.

Even you have checked [Keep all Emails in handheld] in [Advanced Setting], [Delete the data under inbox in handheld before synchronization] will delete emails in in Inbox of the handheld.

Some data cannot be synchronized in WebMail.

If you have setup HotSync option in the handheld, please refer to WebMail manual Notice.

Some data in Cybozu Office 4 cannot be downloaded to handheld by Cybozu Sync 4.

Please check if the data corresponds to the following. Do not delete data of Cybozu WebMail 4.

Emails in the handheld was sent out.

If you check 'Synchronize the Data' or ' Handheld overwrites Cybozu WebMail 4' in Action Setting, emails are sent out in synchronization.

You cannot edit the emails in outbox of handheld after synchronization in Cybozu WebMail 4.

Some data of Bulletin Board are not downloaded.

Even you delete articles in Cybozu Bulletin Board, the same data in handheld will not be deleted after synchronization.

However, if you check [Delete the data under Cybozu Category in handheld before synchronization], the data is deleted.

You can not specify the articles for synchronization.

Registered data in Cybozu is not downloaded to handheld.

You may setup [Handheld overwrites Cybozu WebMail 4].

Some Cybozu WebMail 4 data are not synchronized due to the settings of HotSync Option.

Some of the data are not updated successfully. (For Cybozu Scheduler 4)

Depending on the type of the data, you will face this situation.

The following is the list of the data you cannot synchronize between the handheld and Cybozu Office 4:

From the handheld to Cybozu Scheduler 4
Schedules that are registered as Private(*)
Schedules that are repeated more than one days a week. (i.e. Every Monday, Tuesday and Friday a week)
Schedules that are repeated every more than a week (i.e. Every three weeks)
Schedules that are repeated every more than a month (i.e. Every two months)
Schedules that are repeated every year Schedules that are repeated every day/week/month and only specific days are changed (However, the data modified in the handheld will be synchronized with Cybozu Scheduler 4 as a new data.
From Cybozu Scheduler 4 to the handheld
that are registered as Private (*)
Schedules that are out of the target time period of synchronization All-Day entry schedules Repeated schedule in the end of every month (*)

Depending on the type of the data, you will face this situation.

I want to synchronized my private schedule.(Cybozu Office Scheduler 4)

You can synchronize the schedule data as follows. Choose Advanced setting from the conduit of schedule. At 'Options of HotSync Action for Cybozu Scheduler 4', check 'Synchronize private schedules'.

! Private schedules registered as private in the handheld will also be Private schedule in Cybozu Scheduler 4.

I want to synchronize telephone numbers or FAX numbers. (Cybozu Office Address Book 4)

You can synchronize Cybozu Address Book 4 data as follows:

Choose 'Address Field Setting' from the conduit of Address Select corresponding fields in [Address Field Setting for HotSync Action] in [Address Field Setting].
Select fields.
The items you can synchronize as Default setting are the following 5 items.
Last Name First Name Middle Name Company Email To set corresponding fields, setup at [Address Field Setting for HotSync Action].
